The Pichavaram Mangrove Forest near Chidambaram is the world's second largest mangrove forest. Pichavaram consists of a number of islands interspersing a vast expanse of water covered with mangrove forest. The Pichavaram mangrove Forest is one of the largest mangrove forests in India covering about 1100 hectare of area. It is separated from the Bay of Bengal by a sand bar. The biotope consists of species like Avicennia and Rhizophora. It also supports the existence of rare varieties of economically important shell and finfishes.
Chidambaram Nataraja Temple
Chidambaram Nataraja temple or Thillai Nataraja temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Nataraja – Shiva as the lord of dance. The temple architecture symbolizes the connection between the arts and spirituality, creative activity and the divine. The temple wall carvings display all the 108 karanas from the Natya Shastra by Bharata Muni, and these postures form a foundation of Bharatanatyam, a classical Indian dance laid by the Chola King Parantaka I(907-950 CE).

Nagoor Dargah
Nagoor Dargah built over the tomb of the Sufi saint Shahul Hameed (1490– 1579 CE). The most prominent event celebrated at Nagore dargah is the Kanduri festival, a fourteen-day commemoration of the death anniversary of Shahul Hamid.
Velankanni Church
Velankanni has one of the country's biggest Catholic pilgrimage centers, the Basilica of Our Lady of Good Health. Devoted to Our Lady of Good Health, it is popularly known as the Lourdes of the East Its origins can be traced back to the 16th century. The church's foundation is attributed to three miracles: the apparition of Mary and Jesus to a slumbering shepherd boy, the curing of a lame buttermilk vendor, and the survival of Portuguese sailors assaulted by a violent sea storm. It is built in the Gothic style, was modified by the Portuguese and then further expanded later on due to the influx of pilgrims. The church building was raised to the status of basilica in 1962 by Pope John XXIII.
Brahadeeshwarar Temple
Thanjavur is a place well-known for its art and architecture. Brihadeeshwar Temple is one of the most beautiful architectural splendors of the country. Brihadeeswarar Temple is also widely known by name of 'Big Temple'. The Big Temple was recognized as UNESCO's World Heritage Site as Chola group of Monuments. Built in the year 1010 CE by Raja Raja Chola in Thanjavur, the temple is popularly known as the Big Temple stands in the center place of Thanjavur.
Ramanatha Swamy Temple
Ramanathaswamy Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to the god Shiva located on Rameswaram island in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. It is also one of the twelve Jyotirlinga temples. It is one of the 274 Paadal Petra Sthalams, where the three of the most revered Nayanars (Saivite saints), Appar, Sundarar and Tirugnana Sambandar, have glorified the temple with their songs. The temple was expanded during the 12th century by Pandya Dynasty, and its principal shrines sanctum was renovated by Jeyaveera Cinkaiariyan and his successor Gunaveera Cinkaiariyan of the Jaffna kingdom. The temple has the longest corridor among all Hindu temples in India.The temple is located in Rameswaram considered a holy pilgrimage site for Shaivites, Vaishnavites and Smarthas. The presiding deity, the Lingam of Ramanathaswamy (Shiva), is believed to have been established and worshiped by Rama.
Pamban Bridge
Pamban Bridge is connects the town of Mandapam in mainland India with Pamban Island, and Rameswaram. It is the longest bridge in India constructed over a bay. Similarly the railway SCISSORS Bridge connecting the island is noted for its unique opening to pass the ships through the sea. It was India's first sea bridge, and was the longest sea bridge in India. It stands on the Palk Strait and between the shores of Mandapam (a place on the Indian mainland) and Pamban (one of the fishermen town in Rameswaram Island).
Kanyakumari Vivekananda Statue
The magnificent Vivekananda Rock Memorial is located on a small island off Kanyakumari. It has the picturesque Indian Ocean in its backdrop and hence serves as a peaceful and serene destination for visitors from all across the globe. It is situated on one of the two adjacent rocks projecting out of the Lakshadweep Sea and comprises of the 'Shripada Mandapam' and the 'Vivekananda Mandapam'. The ferry ride up to these rock islands is a thrilling journey and hence attracts a lot of nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts. This statue depicts spectacular architecture and was built in the year 1970 and has been a major tourist attraction ever since. The island on which the statue is located is said to have been the site where Vivekananda attained enlightenment. The Shripada Mandapam has a study hall and a museum, where you can explore Vivekananda's life and work in depth. This Mandapam adds to the spiritual significance and of the memorial along with emphasising on its purity. It is the perfect spot to meditate and introspect. With its serene surroundings and majestic construction, the Vivekananda Memorial is an unforgettable experience. The popular rock memorial is situated in Vavathurai and was built in honour of Swami Vivekananda.
Madurai Meenakshi Temple
Meenakshi Temple also called as Meenakshi Amman Temple or Meenakshi Sundareshwarar Temple spelled as Meenatchi Temple is a historic Hindu temple located on the southern bank of the Vaigai River. It is dedicated to Meenakshi, a form of Parvati, and her consort, Sundareshwar, a form of Shiva. The temple is at the center of the ancient temple city of Madurai mentioned in the Tamil Sangam literature, with the goddess temple mentioned in 6th century CE texts.
Coaker’s Walk
Coakers Walk is an amazing one-kilometre walkway built on the edge of a majestic cliff in Kodaikanal. Because of its wonderful location, Coakers Walk offers a picturesque view of the magnificent hills and lush green valleys. It is just like walking amidst the clouds. Tourists can also enjoy a bicycle ride at the place. Coakers Walk is a must-visit spot, especially for nature lovers.
Green Valley View

Pillar Rock
Pillar Rocks are formed with three granite boulders which stand shoulder to shoulder creating an impressive sight. The vertical height of the rocks is almost 122 meters (400 feet) which adds on to their magnificence. There is mini garden bestowed with beautiful flowering plants. Tourists looking for some relaxation and calm time will fall in love with this place. Shady woods below the shadow of pillar create a perfect picnic spot where tourists can spend some quality time with their beloved amidst captivating natural settings.
Lake
The Kodaikanal Lake offers a memorable boating experience along with wonderful facilities like cycling and horse riding. The environment is simply perfect for all these activities. The price of activities is quite reasonable. Cycling and horse riding are very highly recommended.
Silver Cascade
Situated on Laws Ghat Road, Silver Cascade's water quality is reportedly poor and not good enough for bathing. This impressive waterfall is a popular stop for a nice view of the falls and surroundings. There are a few souvenir and fruit vendors and many monkeys here. There is also a smaller but more serene waterfall below the bridge which crosses the stream here.This waterfall is close to the main road and does not demand much walking/trekking.
Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple (Srirangam)
Constructed in the Dravidian architectural style, the temple is glorified by Alvars in their Divya Prabhanda and has the unique distinction of being not only the foremost among the 108 Divya Desams dedicated to Vishnu, but also the largest functioning Hindu temple in the world. It is one of the most illustrious Vaishnava temples in South India rich in legend and history. The temple has played an important role in Vaishnavism history starting with the 11th-century career of Ramanuja and his predecessors Nathamuni and Yamunacharya in Srirangam.
Ucchi Pillayar Temple (Rock Fort)
The Rock Fort temple stands 83m tall perched atop the rock. The smooth rock was first cut by the Pallavas but it was the Nayaks of Madurai who completed both the temples under the Vijayanagara Empire. The temple is situated at the top of the rock. The temple is mystic in its nature with awe-inspiring rock architecture. The Ganesha temple is much smaller with an access through steep steps carved on the rock and provides a stunning view of Trichy, Srirangam and the rivers Kaveri and Kollidam. Due to its ancient and impressive architecture created by the Pallavas, the temple is maintained by the Archaeological department of India.
On a bright morning we will start from the TTDC building, en route we will have breakfast and reach Pondicherry. And will be visiting the famous Aurobindo Ashram, this will definitely make all our spirits high and we proceed to Pichavaram and at Cuddalore, we will have our special lunch. The boating on the magical mangrove forest, Pichavaram. In the evening, the visit to Chidambaram Temple. Thereafter we move to another temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, Thirukadaiyur Vaitheswaralayam. Then we halt for the night and have dinner at the HTN, Thirukadaiyur.

We will then visit the famous Christian pilgrimage, Velankanni Church, which was built by the Portuguese in the 16th century. Post lunch, then proceed to Thanjavur and we will get to see the great architectural marvel of ancient Tamils, the Brihadeeshwar Temple (UNESCO world heritage site). We will hit our night camp and have dinner at Thanjavur.
