Auroville has its origins in the French language, 'Aurore' meaning dawn and 'Ville' meaning city. Additionally, it is named after Sri Aurobindo (1872–1950). Auroville is an experimental township in Viluppuram district mostly in the state of Tamil Nadu, India with some parts in the Union Territory of Puducherry in India. It was founded in 1968 by Mirra Alfassa (known as the Mother) and designed by architect Roger Anger.As stated in Alfassa's first public message in 1965. Auroville wants to be a universal town where men and women of all countries are able to live in peace and progressive harmony, above all creeds, all politics and all nationalities. The purpose of Auroville is to realize human unity.
Museum
The Pondicherry Museum is an art and history museum located in Pondicherry, India. It is especially noted for its collection of fine lost wax bronzes form the period of the Chola Empire. Pondicherry Museum has a gallery with sculptures and has the remains of archaeological findings from the Arikamedu Roman settlement. The museum also has a collection of rare bronzes and stone sculptures from the Pallava and Chola dynasties and artifacts excavated from Arikamedu.
Pondicherry Beach
A popular beach adoring the coastline of the city of Pondicherry, this long 1.2 kilometers is a haven for travelers and beach enthusiasts. Starting from the War memorial and ending at the Dupleix Park on the Goubert Avenue, the beach is also a favorite haunt for locals for the morning and evening walks besides being an all-time favorite picnic destination. As you explore the beach, you will find a statue of Mahatma Gandhi which is followed by a sea-facing restaurant to enjoy some local culinary delights.
Aurobindo Ashram
The Sri Aurobindo Ashram is a spiritual community (ashram) located in Pondicherry, in the Indian territory of Puducherry. The ashram grew out of a small community of disciples who had gathered around Sri Aurobindo after he retired from politics and settled in Pondicherry in 1910. On 24 November 1926, after a major spiritual realization, Sri Aurobindo withdrew from public view in order to continue his spiritual work. At this time he handed over the full responsibility for the inner and outer lives of the sadhaks (spiritual aspirants) and the ashram to his spiritual collaborator, the Mother, earlier known as Mirra Alfassa
Mudaliyar Kuppam
Mudaliarkuppam is located in the district of Kanchipuram. Mudaliarkuppam Boat House also known as Raindrop Boat House, is a water sport facility located on the East Coast Road, 36 km to the south of Mamallapuram and 92 km from Chennai in India. It was developed by the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation on the Odiyur lake back waters. It has Rowing, Cruising, Speed Boating, Water Scooting and Kayaking Facilities. Mudaliarkuppam backwater is a brackish water lagoon adjacent to the Bay of Bengal on the East Coast Road. This is yet another haven for wading birds and migratory ducks. The habitat consists of coastal water mudflats, sand banks and salt pans.

The tour starts early on in the day. You will be taken to BRC, Mamallapuram for your breakfast. Clear skies, colliding tides and magnificent architecture of temples of Mahab would linger in your minds on your way back.Then after you will arrive at the Auroville, a place dedicated to realize human unity followed by your visit to the Pondicherry Museum, the only museum with a fine collection of Lost-wax statues from Chola periods. Soon then you will stop by the beach.You will take your lunch and move onto the Aurobindo Ashram for a spiritual awakening and a dynamic re-creation. Your boating adventure takes place in the afternoon at Mudaliyar Kuppam, an emerging backwater destination with speedboats, pedalboats and kayaks. Finally, the tour ends right where it started.
